Edward Greenwald
Edward Greenwald was born in Brooklyn, NY to Regina Holzer Greenwald and Jacob Greenwald.
Edward was a self-educated man who was extremely well-read. He also was a body builder in his youth, long before it became a popular fad in the 1970's and 1980's. He worked all his life as a carpenter and general contractor. He spent a short time as the caretaker of Cejwing Camps in Port Jervis, NY.
After the death of his wife, Frances, Edward raised their only child, Ruth, on his own - with spiritual and mothering guidance for his daughter provided by his sister-in-law Dotty Katchen Osgood.
A number of years after Ruth's marriage to Julian, Edward remarried to Muriel in 1973. They lived together in a house Edward was rennovating himself in Bethpage, Long Island, NY. Late in life, Edward took up the hobby of making stained glass suncatchers in addition to his carpentry.
Edward died in the summer of 1982 at home on Long Island.
