Morris Amkraut
Morris Amkraut was born in Lancut, Poland to Chaim (Herman) Amkraut and Sarah Rosenbluth Amkraut in 1884. Both Chaim and Sarah were grocers in Poland. In 1905 he emigrated to the United States of America, settling in New York City.
Morris married Julia Bellison. They had three children together; Hyman, William and Jacob. Julia died when Jacob was a very young boy. Morris worked as a salesman for the J. Luria Company.
After Julia's death, Morris a second time. His second wife died shortly after. During this time, the boys had been taken in and raised by Morris's sister, Helen (whom was affectionaltely referred to as "Tanta Leena").
Morris again remarried, the third time to Mary, with whom he shared many years together. In fact, since Morris' younger boys were so young when he was married to Mary, they were raised believing that Mary was their biological mother (the truth was not revealed until the death of his second son, William, who's daughter, Allynne, learned this through examinations of necessary documents needed for her father's funeral).
Morris was a devoted father and doted on his grandchildren. Morris died in in Brooklyn, New York.
